Team
Registry Guidelines and Rules - 2012
This program is
designed for individuals that wish to register as a team
with their horse to combine points from all of the mounted
shooting associations into one database with the opportunity
to win awards and recognition. Included is our Shooting
Horse Certification program, which recognizes the horses’
accomplishments, adding value to a horse. Awards are given
by the Cowboy Mounted Shooters Team Registry at the end of
the calendar year based on points in each breed division in
both Ladies and Men’s category’s.
Divisions:
1) New divisions will
be created when at least 5 registered horses of a particular
breed register in the program.
2) We will accept overall rankings from sanctioned matches
of the following associations:
-
Cowboy Sports
Association
-
Cowboy Mounted
Shooting Association
-
Mounted Shooters of
America
-
Single Action
Shooting Society Mounted Shooters
-
Western States
Shooting Association
Registration:
Benefits:
1) Registration
is for a full 365 days from the date you register.
2) The registration fee is $35.00 per horse and rider
team.
3) Each horse and rider team will have its own unique
CMS Team Registry number.
4) Each team must first be registered in order to
accumulate points. The registration form may accompany the
first point match slip sent in. Any mounted shooting points
awarded before registering in the Cowboy Mounted Shooters
Team Registry Program will not be considered.
5) If a rider competes on more than one horse, the
rider may register with another horse as a separate team.
There is no limit to the number of teams a rider can
register on.
6) The registration fee for the second team (or more)
with the same rider/different horse will be $30.00
Points:
1) Points are tracked based on a calendar year.
2) Points are awarded based on the team’s overall
ranking in a match. One point is awarded for each person the
team placed above in the overall scores at the end of a
match. Youth and developmental divisions (Buckaroo, Cowpoke,
Apprentice, Wrangler, Lead Line) are not considered part of
a main match and are not counted in overall results.
3) The horse and rider team MUST remain the same
throughout a competition in order to have team points
recognized for any particular match.
4) Only points awarded on or after the date of
Registration with the Cowboy Mounted Shooters Team Registry
will be counted. Points are not retroactive.
Match Slips:
1) Match Slips are used to submit and record points
from mounted shooting competitions to the Cowboy Mounted
Shooters Team Registry. It is the riders’ responsibility to
submit match slips for Cowboy Mounted Shooters Team Registry
point tracking.
2) Each registration packet comes with 3 match slips
to get you started. Additional match slips can be purchased
through the website or by mail for $5.00 each, in a book of
5 for $20.00 or a book of 10 for $38.00. Match slips do not
expire.
3) To submit points after a match you must completely
fill out a match slip and submit to CMS Headquarters via
mail or e-mail within 30 days of the match. Match slips may
be scanned and e-mailed.
4) Match slips may be sent in batches as long as they
are sent within 30 days of the event(s). We reserve the
right to accept slips after the 30 day timeframe for good
reason.
Recognition:
1) High point teams will be recognized at a National,
Regional and State level in their team division, in both
Ladies and Men’s category’s.
2) To qualify for end of year awards, you must have
competed in at least 5 matches during the year.
3) In order to encourage young riders to participate
in competition, all CSA Cowpoke and Buckaroos, CMSA
Wranglers, MSA Outlaw competitors, SASS Buckaroos and WSSA
Buckaroos will be recognized if they participate in at least
3 matches and submit a match slip as required. Match slips
for the youth divisions do not require an overall ranking.
Shooting Horse
Certification Program:
1) All horses registered are automatically registered
in the shooting horse certification program from the date of
team registration. Points may NOT be added retroactively.
When your horse has reached a level of certification, your
certificate or award will be sent automatically.
2) Points follow a horse year to year.
3) If a horse transfers to another rider who registers
with the horse as a team, the CMS Team Registry must be
notified so the points can transfer with the horse.
