Frequently
Asked Questions
Do I need to be
a member of one of the National Mounted Shooting
Associations to register for this program?
No, however only
points from an accepted association’s sanctioned shoot
qualify. We do encourage everyone to get involved in an
association or local club but it is not required.
Why do we need
to send in match slips?
Match slips are
our way of registering your points from matches. We do not
have access, nor do we use the databases from other
associations. With so many different mounted shooting
competitions now taking place, we couldn’t keep up with all
of the results and who is competing where. Match slips are
your way of letting us know the points you and your horse
should be awarded.
If I compete in
CMSA and CSA shoots on the same horse do I need two
different registration numbers?
No. Remember,
you're registering as a team, so no matter what shooting
event the team competes in we will track your points. You
can purchase match slips and just circle the association
you're submitting the points from.
I compete with
an association that isn't currently recognized by the Team
Registry. Can our association or group sign up to be added
for point tracking?
Sure! We look
forward to adding more associations, organizations and
groups to our database. Tracking points is what we're all
about. Contact us and we'll discuss getting your group set
up.
How does this
point tracking differ from any of the National Associations?
The Team Registry
combines your points from multiple mounted shooting
associations and offers certification to your horse by way
of certificates and plaques.
We have many of
our club members registered in the Cowboy Mounted Shooters
Team Registry program, can we send in our results together
in one envelope?
Of course! The
club may offer to do this for you or one of you can take
charge and send them all in. Remember, you can scan and
e-mail them too.
I share a horse
with another rider; can we both register for the program?
Yes. You would
each register as a separate team with the horse.
My horse came
up lame in the middle of a competition and I finished on a
different horse, can I still have my points counted?
No. You must
compete on the registered team horse for the entire
competition.
My child
competes in the lead line division. Can he/she
register as a team with their horse?
Yes. We encourage
the youth to register! Everyone who competes in one of the
youth divisions ( CSA Cowpokes, CMSA Wranglers, MSA Lead
Line and SASS Buckaroos) will receive end of year
recognition regardless of their placing.
