Cowboy Mounted Shooters Team Registry
If you compete in
Mounted Shooting events through any of the Mounted Shooting
Associations, the CMS Team Registry is for you! The Cowboy
Mounted Shooters Team Registry was created with the horse
and rider team in mind. Together you train, together you
compete, and together you succeed in one of the fastest
growing equestrian sports in the World!

Now you can combine
your overall scores from matches sanctioned by any of the
recognized mounted shooting associations under one award
program to receive recognition for Mounted Shooting! Through
our team registry, you’ll not only compete as the rider that
you are, but also by the relationship and horsemanship
skills you’ve built with your shooting horse.
In addition to the team points, The Mounted Shooting Horse
Certification adds another level to Mounted Shooting
recognition; one designed specifically for your horse. Watch
your horse’s certification level grow as you add points to
your team score. Receive certificates and plaques
designating the level of certification achieved.
It’s
never too late in the season to register. Sign up today and
start accumulating points for the 2012 season and your
horses overall Shooting Horse Certification!
So what is Mounted Shooting?
This exciting competition reminds spectators of cowboys of
the old west! Armed with two single action .45 caliber
pistols, the competitor speeds through a course designed to
test their horsemanship skills and shooting ability – all
put together. While navigating through a course, the rider
must shoot at 5 targets with one gun before re-holstering
and pulling out their next gun for the last 5 targets.
Scoring is based on speed, accuracy and following the course
of fire correctly. Targets are balloons and ammunition is
black powder blanks for safety. There are levels for
competitors based on mounted shooting experience and wins,
even entry levels for competitors on lead line or anyone
just learning to put it all together. We also offer all
members a Shooting Horse certification program to gain
recognition for their horse in the sport of Mounted
Shooting.
